Little brother with unplugged controller

Two young boys sit on a living room couch holding video game controllers. Black circles highlight that the younger brother's controller cable is completely unplugged and lying on the rug, showing he has been given a disconnected controller to pretend he is playing.

Used to describe giving someone the illusion of participation or control when their input has zero effect.
